Happy Birthday Nicole and Christopher

In July, we celebrated two special days: Nicole and Christopher birthdays. Christopher's birthday was on July 1st, and Nicole's birthday was on July 11th. Both are now 4 years old, and each one celebrated it in a very joyful way, with their classmates.
Teachers and students spend great moments with them, we sing and shared some delicious cake. Of course we take some pictures that you will see below.

FRUITS UNIT

Last week, Nursery students closed our Fruits unit making a delicious fruit salad. First the teacher shows each fruit to the children, and they recognise it and their names. After that, children saw how are the fruits inside (after peel them). Then each child take a fruit salad in a small dish, and everybody enjoyed it with some yogurt and sweet milk.
It was a great opportunity to saw, smell and taste each fruit. In that way our students will remember better all the vocabulary fruit that they already know.

HAVE A HAPPY FATHER'S DAY

This Friday 18th, early years level organised a performance to celebrate Father's Day. This was a very special event, where all Nursery Daddys saw the amazing song that our students presentated.
It was a emotive moment. Children were very excitated because of this presentation that they prepared weeks before.
Of course the hole performance was fantastic, and we considered specially Nursery's song a creative and beautiful number.

Camila's Birthday

Today June 14th we celebrated Camila’s Birthday. Now she is 4 years old, and all Nursery bunnies wants to say: “Have a Happy Birthday”. We enjoyed a beautiful moment, where we shared a delicious chocolate cake; also we drank “chicha” and sing happy birthday for this special day to Camila. All the students and teachers were really happy to celebrate with Camila this special occasion, and we hope Camila enjoyed this beautiful moment too. Congratulations Camila because now you are 4 years old!

The Arriero Farm

Nursery and pre kinder went to an amazing trip to the Arriero Farm. We take the bus at 8:30 am, and arrived to the farm one hour later approximately. We enjoyed which all the beautiful animals that we saw. First we saw some birds, roosters, hens and ducks. Then we visit the bunnies, and of course some cheeps. After that, we visit a small ranch, where we got some lettuce. Also we had the opportunity to feed them. We visit a huge cow, and we could milk her, it was an exciting experience. At the end we saw some baby animals, and we taste the sweet flavour of a warm bread making by ourselves. Thank you Daddy and Mommy for the fantastic adventure you gave us.

Art

Art is a very special subject that takes place, in most of the cases, outside the classroom. Last week we enjoyed doing a relaxing activity with paint. We worked in three groups, each on had the basic colours. First we explore the paint, then we daub our hands with the paint and we take our imagination fly. At the end of the activity everybody were very exciting and didn’t want to finish it. But we are good and responsible students, so we follow our teachers instructions and finish our drawings.

Science and Social Studies

This Term in Nursery Bunnies, we started two amazing new topics. One in Science: the Plants, where we discover the plant’s need and also parts of them. It was very enjoyable the moments when we plant a seed and then it grew up a lot. The second topic was in Social Studies: The family, it was a beautiful experience where we know our friends families. Each student take a picture of their family, and each one went in front of the classroom showing their Dad, Mon, Sisters or Brothers. We had a very interesting and enjoyable week.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

This Friday 7th, our Nursery students participated in a special homage to their mothers. Our students spend lots of hours, practicing “MOMMY” song, “Snow-white” and “Dance”, for this amazing moment.
Everybody spend a beautiful time, we observe the performance of all early years grades. Also in each classroom, the children could give their mothers surprising presents.

This Sunday 25 of April, was Uriel's birthday. We celebrated in our classroom this special occasion. Uriel and all his friends enjoyed this beautiful moment with enthusiasm. First we sang "Happy Birthday" to Uriel, after that we taste some delicious snacks and a beutiful cake.

SCIENCE: OUR SENSES

The last two weeks in Science Subject, we enjoyed some activities about our senses. We learned about our five different senses: sight, hearing, taste, touch and smell. The differents activities made in our classroom were really funny. For example, in the pictures we were discovering about our touch and taste senses. First we had to look for a candy with our eyes closed! then with our touch sense we found them and we could taste its sweet flavor. We made other kinds of activities for the others senses and we are really enjoying this amazing working.
By the end of the term, we are going to know about our senses and their use in our daily life.

We're always telling children that books and reading are good for them, but have we ever really thought about why that's true? Exactly what do older children get out of reading novels? What do younger kids get from being read to? Does reading matter?
The more children read, the better they become at reading. It's as simple as that. The more enjoyable the things they read are, the more they'll stick with them and develop the reading skills that they'll need for full access to information in their adult lives. Reading should be viewed as a pleasurable activity - as a source of entertaining tales and useful and interesting factual information.

That’s why this week we went to a “magic place”, that is the school library, where my students found different kinds of books.

Fortunately, many parents still believe in the importance and far-reaching benefits of music education, particularly for young children. While music training often has to compete with so many other activities--such as karate, soccer, gymnastics, chess, etc.--to retain its place in a child's busy schedule, we keep seeing strong demand especially for music lessons.
the child's age is important for several reasons. On a basic level, the student's age can help parents and educators make a responsible decision whether or not private lessons are the appropriate mode of music instruction for a particular child. In our experience, 4- and 5-year-olds often do better in group classes than in private lessons. Aside from the benefits of social interaction, young children learn much from each other. In fact, they may even absorb information more readily than in a one-on-one setting, which requires a much greater focus and attention to details--abilities that are not yet fully developed in many young children.

A memorable day

Last Wednesday 31, our Nursery bunnies’ classroom went to a fantastic and amazing excursion. Teachers and children enjoyed a memorable day, we share beautiful moments together. First we arrived to “Remanso” club, and we ate our delicious lunch. Then we played with our teachers, and finally we climbed all that interesting games. It was a day that we’ll never forget.

School Classes

Since we started classes in the school, we don’t stop learning new things. In English classes, we listen and saw many kinds of story tales, and we make some drawings of the best and emotional scenes of each story book. In Math, we learn about the colour red, and we know now that there are a lot of red things in our school, house and world. Furthermore, we learn about the circle, this shape is amazing, we found it everywhere and also was so fun walk in circles in the classroom. Our art classes were amazing, because we paint with our hands a beautiful bunny for Easter holidays!

Kevin's Birthday

Friday 26, we celebrate a special event: Kevin' Birthday, he is 3 years old now. That say all his friends celebrated with him in the classroom. Kevin had a delicious cake to share with his friends, and we had a good time together.

Importancia del movimiento y la educación psicomotriz.

Es necesario reconocer que el movimiento representa un auténtico medio de expresión y comunicación, en donde la persona exterioriza sus potencialidades: orgánicas, motrices y afectivas. Es por ello que se dice que el movimiento del hombre lleva implícita su propia libertad, puesto que cada hombre es capaz de ampliar o limitar sus propias potencialidades.

El movimiento identifica un carácter personal, que genera respuestas del hombre en relación a su medio ambiente y a las demás personas que lo rodean. El niño, al igual que el adulto tiene una relación elemental y franca que establece con el mundo de seres y objetos que se traduce en un movimiento espontáneo y rico en el que se ponen en juego todas las posibilidades cinéticas de las que capaz.

El movimiento del niño, es natural y espontáneo permite conocerlo ya que su modo de pensar y de sentir surge de un espacio y tiempo vivido dando así a conocer sus sentimientos hacia los demás.

La actividad Psicomotriz es uno de los primeros pasos para la relación del niño consigo mismo y con el medio social y natural que lo rodea, por ende se debe forjar con seguridad y sin ideales culturales propuestos.

What importance is the reading in first years?

Reading instruction happens moment-to-moment in the classroom as teachers establish
the conditions in which children learn to read and to write, assess what children can do,
and then teach children to take one step and then subsequent steps forward as readers.
Starting in kindergarten and continuing through higher-education, teaching is always
responsive; it is always assessment-based. But this doesn’t mean that teachers cannot
imagine, beforehand, how the classroom work will probably evolve across the year.

Last week we shared a lot of new experiences together. We started our classes like "Teatro" and "Computación". We were learning about acting with Miss Aida Mariño, shared beautiful toys, smiled together and were delighted by doing new things. Doing relaxing exercises was one of the most enjoyable activities this week.We learnt with our friends and Miss Pamela how to name things in our classroom.

On our first week, we met new friends. We really enjoy doing activities in the classroom. Miss Pamela, Miss Jessy and Miss Sofía; were always working together and playing with us at the recess. At the end of the week we have a very nice Shared Lunch This week has been very helpful for all of us. What nice surprises we will have next week?

Working at St.George's School

This year I´m teaching 3 years old children, during these days i have discovered new things about teaching and children so working at St. George's School has been a very rewarding experience. My little students are great, they are very motivated and enthusiastic and it is a pleasure to teach them. My colleagues are wonderful too and have made me feel really welcome here. What can i say? Life is good.
